12:2 Then I will make you 1 into a great nation, and I will bless you, 2
and I will make your name great, 3
so that you will exemplify divine blessing. 4
12:3 I will bless those who bless you, 5
but the one who treats you lightly 6 I must curse,
and all the families of the earth will bless one another 7 by your name.”
12:4 So Abram left, 8 just as the Lord had told him to do, 9 and Lot went with him. (Now 10 Abram was 75 years old 11 when he departed from Haran.) 12:5 And Abram took his wife Sarai, his nephew 12 Lot, and all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired 13 in Haran, and they left for 14 the land of Canaan. They entered the land of Canaan.
12:6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the oak tree 15 of Moreh 16 at Shechem. 17 (At that time the Canaanites were in the land.) 18 12:7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants 19 I will give this land.” So Abram 20 built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
