The city is left in ruins; ¹  the gate is reduced to rubble. ² 

His words are as smooth as butter, ¹  but he harbors animosity in his heart. ²  His words seem softer than oil, but they are really like sharp swords. ³ 

For as the churning ¹  of milk produces butter and as punching the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger ²  produces strife. ³ 

Into his right hand ¹  comes the portent for Jerusalem – to set up battering rams, to give the signal ²  for slaughter, to shout out the battle cry, ³  to set up battering rams against the gates, to erect a siege ramp, to build a siege wall.

Lay siege to it! Build siege works against it. Erect a siege ramp ¹  against it! Post soldiers outside it ²  and station battering rams around it.

He will eat sour milk ¹  and honey, which will help him know how ²  to reject evil and choose what is right.

The end of a matter ¹  is better than its beginning; likewise, patience ²  is better than pride. ³ 

She was very upset ¹  as she prayed to the Lord, and she was weeping uncontrollably. ²

Those who call evil good and good evil are as good as dead, ¹  who turn darkness into light and light into darkness, who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter. ² 

It is better to live on a corner of the housetop ¹  than in a house in company ²  with a quarrelsome wife. ³
