Bible: Rev. 5:6-9; 6:1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12; 8:1

5:6 Then 1  I saw standing in the middle of the throne 2  and of the four living creatures, and in the middle of the elders, a Lamb that appeared to have been killed. 3  He had 4  seven horns and seven eyes, which 5  are the seven 6  spirits of God 7  sent out into all the earth. 5:7 Then 8  he came and took the scroll 9  from the right hand of the one who was seated on the throne, 5:8 and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders threw themselves to the ground 10  before the Lamb. Each 11  of them had a harp and golden bowls full of incense (which are the prayers of the saints). 12  5:9 They were singing a new song: 13

“You are worthy to take the scroll

and to open its seals

because you were killed, 14

and at the cost of your own blood 15  you have purchased 16  for God

persons 17  from every tribe, language, 18  people, and nation.

God’s Grief over Humankind’s Wickedness

6:1 When humankind 1  began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born 2  to them, 3  6:3 So the Lord said, “My spirit will not remain in 4  humankind indefinitely, 5  since 6  they 7  are mortal. 8  They 9  will remain for 120 more years.” 10

6:5 But the Lord saw 11  that the wickedness of humankind had become great on the earth. Every inclination 12  of the thoughts 13  of their minds 14  was only evil 15  all the time. 16  6:7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe humankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth – everything from humankind to animals, 17  including creatures that move on the ground and birds of the air, for I regret that I have made them.”

The Judgment of the Flood

6:9 This is the account of Noah. 18

Noah was a godly man; he was blameless 19

among his contemporaries. 20  He 21  walked with 22  God. 6:12 God saw the earth, and indeed 23  it was ruined, 24  for all living creatures 25  on the earth were sinful. 26

8:1 But God remembered 1  Noah and all the wild animals and domestic animals that were with him in the ark. God caused a wind to blow over 2  the earth and the waters receded.
