8:1 For the music director, according to the gittith style; ²  a psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord, ³ 

how magnificent ⁴  is your reputation ⁵  throughout the earth!

You reveal your majesty in the heavens above! ⁶ 

8:2 From the mouths of children and nursing babies

you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries, ⁷ 

so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy. ⁸ 

8:3 When I look up at the heavens, which your fingers made,

and see the moon and the stars, which you set in place, ⁹ 

8:4 Of what importance is the human race, ¹⁰  that you should notice ¹¹  them?

Of what importance is mankind, ¹²  that you should pay attention to them, ¹³ 

8:5 and make them a little less than the heavenly beings? ¹⁴ 

You grant mankind ¹⁵  honor and majesty; ¹⁶ 

8:6 you appoint them to rule over your creation; ¹⁷ 

you have placed ¹⁸  everything under their authority, ¹⁹ 

8:7 including all the sheep and cattle,

as well as the wild animals, ²⁰ 

8:8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea

and everything that moves through the currents ²¹  of the seas.

8:9 O Lord, our Lord, ²² 

how magnificent ²³  is your reputation ²⁴  throughout the earth! ²⁵ 

19:1 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening while ¹  Lot was sitting in the city’s gateway. ²  When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face toward the ground.

19:2 He said, “Here, my lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house. Stay the night ³  and wash your feet. Then you can be on your way early in the morning.” ⁴  “No,” they replied, “we’ll spend the night in the town square.” ⁵ 

19:3 But he urged ⁶  them persistently, so they turned aside with him and entered his house. He prepared a feast for them, including bread baked without yeast, and they ate. 19:4 Before they could lie down to sleep, ⁷  all the men – both young and old, from every part of the city of Sodom – surrounded the house. ⁸  19:5 They shouted to Lot, ⁹  “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so we can have sex ¹⁰  with them!”

19:6 Lot went outside to them, shutting the door behind him.

33:8 Esau ²  then asked, “What did you intend ³  by sending all these herds to meet me?” ⁴  Jacob ⁵  replied, “To find favor in your sight, my lord.” 33:9 But Esau said, “I have plenty, my brother. Keep what belongs to you.”

1:11 God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: ¹  plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, ²  and ³  trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds.” It was so. 1:12 The land produced vegetation – plants yielding seeds according to their kinds, and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

1:24 God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” ¹  It was so. 1:25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the cattle according to their kinds, and all the creatures that creep along the ground according to their kinds. God saw that it was good.

1:26 Then God said, “Let us make ² 

humankind ³  in our image, after our likeness, ⁴  so they may rule ⁵  over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, ⁶  and over all the creatures that move ⁷  on the earth.”

1:27 God created humankind ⁸  in his own image,

in the image of God he created them, ⁹ 

male and female he created them. ¹⁰ 

1:28 God blessed ¹¹  them and said ¹²  to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! ¹³  Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.” ¹⁴
