19:1 For the music director; a psalm of David.

The heavens declare the glory of God; ² 

the sky displays his handiwork. ³ 

19:2 Day after day it speaks out; ⁴ 

night after night it reveals his greatness. ⁵ 

19:3 There is no actual speech or word,

nor is its ⁶  voice literally heard.

19:4 Yet its voice ⁷  echoes ⁸  throughout the earth;

its ⁹  words carry ¹⁰  to the distant horizon. ¹¹ 

In the sky ¹²  he has pitched a tent for the sun. ¹³ 

19:5 Like a bridegroom it emerges ¹⁴  from its chamber; ¹⁵ 

like a strong man it enjoys ¹⁶  running its course. ¹⁷ 

19:6 It emerges from the distant horizon, ¹⁸ 

and goes from one end of the sky to the other; ¹⁹ 

nothing can escape ²⁰  its heat.

50:1 Then Joseph hugged his father’s face. ¹  He wept over him and kissed him. 50:2 Joseph instructed the physicians in his service ²  to embalm his father, so the physicians embalmed Israel. 50:3 They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming. ³  The Egyptians mourned ⁴  for him seventy days. ⁵ 

50:4 When the days of mourning ⁶  had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s royal court, ⁷  “If I have found favor in your sight, please say to Pharaoh, ⁸  50:5 ‘My father made me swear an oath. He said, ⁹  “I am about to die. Bury me ¹⁰  in my tomb that I dug for myself there in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go and bury my father; then I will return.’” 50:6 So Pharaoh said, “Go and bury your father, just as he made you swear to do.” ¹¹ 

1:1 In the beginning ¹  God ²  created ³  the heavens and the earth. ⁴ 

1:2 Now ⁵  the earth ⁶  was without shape and empty, ⁷  and darkness ⁸  was over the surface of the watery deep, ⁹  but the Spirit of God ¹⁰  was moving ¹¹  over the surface ¹²  of the water. ¹³  1:3 God said, ¹⁴  “Let there be ¹⁵  light.” ¹⁶  And there was light! 1:4 God saw ¹⁷  that the light was good, ¹⁸  so God separated ¹⁹  the light from the darkness. 1:5 God called ²⁰  the light “day” and the darkness ²¹  “night.” There was evening, and there was morning, marking the first day. ²² 

1:6 God said, “Let there be an expanse ²³  in the midst of the waters and let it separate water ²⁴  from water. 1:7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. ²⁵  It was so. ²⁶  1:8 God called the expanse “sky.” ²⁷  There was evening, and there was morning, a second day.
