Bible: Numbers 23:7, 18; 24:3, 15, 20, 21, 23

23:7 Then Balaam 1  uttered 2  his oracle, saying,

Balak, the king of Moab, brought me 3  from Aram,

out of the mountains of the east, saying,

‘Come, pronounce a curse on Jacob for me;

come, denounce Israel.’ 4

Balaam Prophesies Again

23:18 Balaam 5  uttered 6  his oracle, and said,

Rise up, 7  Balak, and hear;

Listen to me, son of Zippor:

24:3 so that I may make you solemnly promise 1  by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth: You must not acquire 2  a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living.

24:15 Before he had finished praying, there came Rebekah 3  with her water jug on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milcah (Milcah was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor). 4  24:20 She quickly emptied 5  her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw more water until she had drawn enough for all his camels. 24:21 Silently the man watched her with interest to determine 6  if the Lord had made his journey successful 7  or not.

24:23 Whose daughter are you?” he asked. 8 Tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?
