2:1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem ¹  in Judea, in the time ²  of King Herod, ³  wise men ⁴  from the East came to Jerusalem ⁵  2:23 He came to a town called Nazareth ⁶  and lived there. Then what had been spoken by the prophets was fulfilled, that Jesus ⁷  would be called a Nazarene. ⁸ 

3:1 Now ¹  the serpent ²  was more shrewd ³ 

than any of the wild animals ⁴  that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Is it really true that ⁵  God ⁶  said, ‘You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?” ⁷  3:5 for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will open ⁸  and you will be like divine beings who know ⁹  good and evil.” ¹⁰
