Bible: Luke 18:11-27
Jesus and Little Children
18:15 Now people 16 were even bringing their babies 17 to him for him to touch. 18 But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them. 19 18:16 But Jesus called for the children, 20 saying, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God 21 belongs to such as these. 22 18:17 I tell you the truth, 23 whoever does not receive 24 the kingdom of God like a child 25 will never 26 enter it.”
The Wealthy Ruler
18:18 Now 27 a certain ruler 28 asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 29 18:19 Jesus 30 said to him, “Why do you call me good? 31 No one is good except God alone. 18:20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’” 32 18:21 The man 33 replied, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed 34 all these laws 35 since my youth.” 36 18:22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have 37 and give the money 38 to the poor, 39 and you will have treasure 40 in heaven. Then 41 come, follow me.” 18:23 But when the man 42 heard this he became very sad, 43 for he was extremely wealthy. 18:24 When Jesus noticed this, 44 he said, “How hard 45 it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! 46 18:25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle 47 than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 18:26 Those who heard this said, “Then 48 who can be saved?” 49 18:27 He replied, “What is impossible 50 for mere humans 51 is possible for God.”
