7:1 The Lord said to Jeremiah: ¹  7:2 “Stand in the gate of the Lord’s temple and proclaim ²  this message: ‘Listen, all you people of Judah who have passed through these gates to worship the Lord. ³  Hear what the Lord has to say. 7:3 The Lord God of Israel who rules over all ⁴  says: Change the way you have been living and do what is right. ⁵  If you do, I will allow you to continue to live in this land. ⁶  7:4 Stop putting your confidence in the false belief that says, ⁷  “We are safe! ⁸  The temple of the Lord is here! The temple of the Lord is here! The temple of the Lord is here!” ⁹  7:5 You must change ¹⁰  the way you have been living and do what is right. You must treat one another fairly. ¹¹  7:6 Stop oppressing foreigners who live in your land, children who have lost their fathers, and women who have lost their husbands. ¹²  Stop killing innocent people ¹³  in this land. Stop paying allegiance to ¹⁴  other gods. That will only bring about your ruin. ¹⁵  7:7 If you stop doing these things, ¹⁶  I will allow you to continue to live in this land ¹⁷  which I gave to your ancestors as a lasting possession. ¹⁸ 

22:13 Abraham looked up ¹  and saw ²  behind him ³  a ram caught in the bushes by its horns. So he ⁴  went over and got the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place “The Lord provides.” ⁵  It is said to this day, ⁶  “In the mountain of the Lord provision will be made.” ⁷ 

22:15 The Lord’s angel called to Abraham a second time from heaven 22:16 and said, “‘I solemnly swear by my own name,’ ⁸  decrees the Lord, ⁹  ‘that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 22:17 I will indeed bless you, ¹⁰  and I will greatly multiply ¹¹  your descendants ¹²  so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession ¹³  of the strongholds ¹⁴  of their enemies. 22:18 Because you have obeyed me, ¹⁵  all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another ¹⁶  using the name of your descendants.’”

22:19 Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set out together ¹⁷  for Beer Sheba where Abraham stayed. ¹⁸ 

22:20 After these things Abraham was told, “Milcah ¹⁹  also has borne children to your brother Nahor – 22:21 Uz the firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram), ²⁰  22:22 Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.” 22:23 (Now ²¹  Bethuel became the father of Rebekah.) These were the eight sons Milcah bore to Abraham’s brother Nahor.
