2:1 Here is the message about Judah and Jerusalem ¹  that was revealed to Isaiah son of Amoz. ² 

2:2 In the future ³ 

the mountain of the Lord’s temple will endure ⁴ 

as the most important of mountains,

and will be the most prominent of hills. ⁵ 

All the nations will stream to it,

2:3 many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,

to the temple of the God of Jacob,

so ⁶  he can teach us his requirements, ⁷ 

and ⁸  we can follow his standards.” ⁹ 

For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; ¹⁰ 

the Lord will issue edicts from Jerusalem. ¹¹ 

2:4 He will judge disputes between nations;

he will settle cases for many peoples.

They will beat their swords into plowshares, ¹² 

and their spears into pruning hooks. ¹³ 

Nations will not take up the sword against other nations,

and they will no longer train for war.

2:5 O descendants ¹⁴  of Jacob,

come, let us walk in the Lord’s guiding light. ¹⁵ 

1:19 There was evening, and there was morning, a fourth day.

1:20 God said, “Let the water swarm with swarms ¹  of living creatures and let birds fly ²  above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” 1:21 God created the great sea creatures ³  and every living and moving thing with which the water swarmed, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. God saw that it was good.
