Bible: Gen. 17:3-8; 22:17-18; 28:13-15

17:3 Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, 1  and God said to him, 2  17:4 As for me, 3  this 4  is my covenant with you: You will be the father of a multitude of nations. 17:5 No longer will your name be 5  Abram. Instead, your name will be Abraham 6  because I will make you 7  the father of a multitude of nations. 17:6 I will make you 8  extremely 9  fruitful. I will make nations of you, and kings will descend from you. 10  17:7 I will confirm 11  my covenant as a perpetual 12  covenant between me and you. It will extend to your descendants after you throughout their generations. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 13  17:8 I will give the whole land of Canaan – the land where you are now residing 14 to you and your descendants after you as a permanent 15  possession. I will be their God.”

22:17 I will indeed bless you, 1  and I will greatly multiply 2  your descendants 3  so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession 4  of the strongholds 5  of their enemies. 22:18 Because you have obeyed me, 6  all the nations of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another 7  using the name of your descendants.’

28:13 and the Lord stood at its top. He said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. 1  I will give you and your descendants the ground 2  you are lying on. 28:14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, 3  and you will spread out 4  to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another 5  using your name and that of your descendants. 6  28:15 I am with you! 7  I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!
