Bible: Ezekiel 48:1-27; 45:4-19

The Tribal Portions

48:1These are the names of the tribes: From the northern end beside the road of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, as far as Hazar-enan (which is on the border of Damascus, toward the north beside Hamath), extending from the east side to the west, Dan will have one portion. 48:2 Next to the border of Dan, from the east side to the west, Asher 1  will have one portion. 48:3 Next to the border of Asher from the east side to the west, Naphtali will have one portion. 48:4 Next to the border of Naphtali from the east side to the west, Manasseh will have one portion. 48:5 Next to the border of Manasseh from the east side to the west, Ephraim will have one portion. 48:6 Next to the border of Ephraim from the east side to the west, Reuben will have one portion. 48:7 Next to the border of Reuben from the east side to the west, Judah 2  will have one portion.

48:8Next to the border of Judah from the east side to the west will be the allotment you must set apart. It is to be eight and a quarter miles 3  wide, and the same length as one of the tribal portions, from the east side to the west; the sanctuary will be in the middle of it. 48:9 The allotment you set apart to the Lord will be eight and a quarter miles 4  in length and three and one-third miles 5  in width. 48:10 These will be the allotments for the holy portion: for the priests, toward the north eight and a quarter miles 6  in length, toward the west three and one-third miles 7  in width, toward the east three and one-third miles 8  in width, and toward the south eight and a quarter miles 9  in length; the sanctuary of the Lord will be in the middle. 48:11 This will be for the priests who are set apart from the descendants of Zadok who kept my charge and did not go astray when the people of Israel strayed off, like the Levites did. 10  48:12 It will be their portion from the allotment of the land, a most holy place, next to the border of the Levites.

48:13Alongside the border of the priests, the Levites will have an allotment eight and a quarter miles 11  in length and three and one-third miles 12  in width. The whole length will be eight and a quarter miles 13  and the width three and one-third miles. 14  48:14 They must not sell or exchange any of it; they must not transfer this choice portion of land, for it is set apart 15  to the Lord.

48:15The remainder, one and two-thirds miles 16  in width and eight and a quarter miles 17  in length, will be for common use by the city, for houses and for open space. The city will be in the middle of it; 48:16 these will be its measurements: The north side will be one and one-half miles, 18  the south side one and one-half miles, the east side one and one-half miles, and the west side one and one-half miles. 48:17 The city will have open spaces: On the north there will be 437½ feet, 19  on the south 437½ feet, on the east 437½ feet, and on the west 437½ feet. 48:18 The remainder of the length alongside the holy allotment will be three and one-third miles 20  to the east and three and one-third miles toward the west, and it will be beside the holy allotment. Its produce will be for food for the workers of the city. 48:19 The workers of the city from all the tribes of Israel will cultivate it. 48:20 The whole allotment will be eight and a quarter miles 21  square, you must set apart the holy allotment with the possession of the city.

48:21The rest, on both sides of the holy allotment and the property of the city, will belong to the prince. Extending from the eight and a quarter miles 22  of the holy allotment to the east border, and westward from the eight and a quarter miles 23  to the west border, alongside the portions, it will belong to the prince. The holy allotment and the sanctuary of the temple will be in the middle of it. 48:22 The property of the Levites and of the city will be in the middle of that which belongs to the prince. The portion between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin will be for the prince.

48:23As for the rest of the tribes: From the east side to the west side, Benjamin will have one portion. 48:24 Next to the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon will have one portion. 48:25 Next to the border of Simeon, from the east side to the west side, Issachar will have one portion. 48:26 Next to the border of Issachar, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun will have one portion. 48:27 Next to the border of Zebulun, from the east side to the west side, Gad will have one portion.

45:4 Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me,” so they came near. Then he said, “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. 45:5 Now, do not be upset and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, 1  for God sent me 2  ahead of you to preserve life! 45:6 For these past two years there has been famine in 3  the land and for five more years there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. 45:7 God sent me 4  ahead of you to preserve you 5  on the earth and to save your lives 6  by a great deliverance. 45:8 So now, it is not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me an adviser 7  to Pharaoh, lord over all his household, and ruler over all the land of Egypt. 45:9 Now go up to my father quickly 8  and tell him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: “God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; do not delay! 45:10 You will live 9  in the land of Goshen, and you will be near me – you, your children, your grandchildren, your flocks, your herds, and everything you have. 45:11 I will provide you with food 10  there because there will be five more years of famine. Otherwise you would become poor – you, your household, and everyone who belongs to you.”’ 45:12 You and my brother Benjamin can certainly see with your own eyes that I really am the one who speaks to you. 11  45:13 So tell 12  my father about all my honor in Egypt and about everything you have seen. But bring my father down here quickly! 13

45:14 Then he threw himself on the neck of his brother Benjamin and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck. 45:15 He kissed all his brothers and wept over them. After this his brothers talked with him.

45:16 Now it was reported 14  in the household of Pharaoh, “Joseph’s brothers have arrived.” It pleased 15  Pharaoh and his servants. 45:17 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: Load your animals and go 16  to the land of Canaan! 45:18 Get your father and your households and come to me! Then I will give you 17  the best land in Egypt and you will eat 18  the best 19  of the land.’ 45:19 You are also commanded to say, 20  ‘Do this: Take for yourselves wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives. Bring your father and come.
