Bible: Ezek. 5:13; 36:6-7; 38:17-23; 39:25-29

5:13 Then my anger will be fully vented; I will exhaust my rage on them, and I will be appeased. 1  Then they will know that I, the Lord, have spoken in my jealousy 2  when I have fully vented my rage against them.

36:6 Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, all the people in his household, his livestock, his animals, and all his possessions which he had acquired in the land of Canaan and went to a land some distance away from 1  Jacob his brother 36:7 because they had too many possessions to be able to stay together and the land where they had settled 2  was not able to support them because of their livestock.

38:17 He replied, “I’ll send you a young goat from the flock.” She asked, “Will you give me a pledge until you send it? 1  38:18 He said, “What pledge should I give you?” She replied, “Your seal, your cord, and the staff that’s in your hand.” So he gave them to her and had sex with her. 2  She became pregnant by him. 38:19 She left immediately, 3  removed her veil, and put on her widow’s clothes.

38:20 Then Judah had his friend Hirah 4  the Adullamite take a young goat to get back from the woman the items he had given in pledge, 5  but Hirah 6  could not find her. 38:21 He asked the men who were there, 7 Where is the cult prostitute 8  who was at Enaim by the road?” But they replied, “There has been no cult prostitute here.” 38:22 So he returned to Judah and said, “I couldn’t find her. Moreover, the men of the place said, ‘There has been no cult prostitute here.’ 38:23 Judah said, “Let her keep the things 9  for herself. Otherwise we will appear to be dishonest. 10  I did indeed send this young goat, but you couldn’t find her.”

39:1 Now Joseph had been brought down to Egypt. 1  An Egyptian named Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh and the captain of the guard, 2  purchased him from 3  the Ishmaelites who had brought him there.
