Prayer for Wisdom and Revelation
1:15 For this reason, 1 because I 2 have heard 3 of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love 4 for all the saints, 1:16 I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember you 5 in my prayers. 1:17 I pray that 6 the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, 7 may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation 8 in your growing knowledge of him, 9 1:18 – since the eyes of your 10 heart have been enlightened 11 – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, 12 what is the wealth of his glorious 13 inheritance in the saints, 1:19 and what is the incomparable 14 greatness of his power toward 15 us who believe, as displayed in 16 the exercise of his immense strength. 17 1:20 This power 18 he exercised 19 in Christ when he raised him 20 from the dead and seated him 21 at his right hand in the heavenly realms 22 1:21 far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 1:22 And God 23 put 24 all things under Christ’s 25 feet, 26 and he gave him to the church as head over all things. 27

“Because you have done this,
cursed 2 are you above all the wild beasts
and all the living creatures of the field!
On your belly you will crawl 3
and dust you will eat 4 all the days of your life.
3:15 And I will put hostility 5 between you and the woman
and between your offspring and her offspring; 6
her offspring will attack 7 your head,
and 8 you 9 will attack her offspring’s heel.” 10
3:16 To the woman he said,
“I will greatly increase 11 your labor pains; 12
with pain you will give birth to children.
You will want to control your husband, 13
but he will dominate 14 you.”
3:17 But to Adam 15 he said,
“Because you obeyed 16 your wife
and ate from the tree about which I commanded you,
‘You must not eat from it,’
cursed is the ground 17 thanks to you; 18
in painful toil you will eat 19 of it all the days of your life.
3:18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
but you will eat the grain 20 of the field.
3:19 By the sweat of your brow 21 you will eat food
until you return to the ground, 22
for out of it you were taken;
for you are dust, and to dust you will return.” 23
