1:15 For this reason, ¹  because I ²  have heard ³  of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love ⁴  for all the saints, 1:16 I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember you ⁵  in my prayers. 1:17 I pray that ⁶  the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ⁷  may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation ⁸  in your growing knowledge of him, ⁹  1:18 – since the eyes of your ¹⁰  heart have been enlightened ¹¹  – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, ¹²  what is the wealth of his glorious ¹³  inheritance in the saints, 1:19 and what is the incomparable ¹⁴  greatness of his power toward ¹⁵  us who believe, as displayed in ¹⁶  the exercise of his immense strength. ¹⁷  1:20 This power ¹⁸  he exercised ¹⁹  in Christ when he raised him ²⁰  from the dead and seated him ²¹  at his right hand in the heavenly realms ²²  1:21 far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 1:22 And God ²³  put ²⁴  all things under Christ’s ²⁵  feet, ²⁶  and he gave him to the church as head over all things. ²⁷ 

3:14 The Lord God said to the serpent, ¹ 

“Because you have done this,

cursed ²  are you above all the wild beasts

and all the living creatures of the field!

On your belly you will crawl ³ 

and dust you will eat ⁴  all the days of your life.

3:15 And I will put hostility ⁵  between you and the woman

and between your offspring and her offspring; ⁶ 

her offspring will attack ⁷  your head,

and ⁸  you ⁹  will attack her offspring’s heel.” ¹⁰ 

3:16 To the woman he said,

“I will greatly increase ¹¹  your labor pains; ¹² 

with pain you will give birth to children.

You will want to control your husband, ¹³ 

but he will dominate ¹⁴  you.”

3:17 But to Adam ¹⁵  he said,

“Because you obeyed ¹⁶  your wife

and ate from the tree about which I commanded you,

‘You must not eat from it,’

cursed is the ground ¹⁷  thanks to you; ¹⁸ 

in painful toil you will eat ¹⁹  of it all the days of your life.

3:18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,

but you will eat the grain ²⁰  of the field.

3:19 By the sweat of your brow ²¹  you will eat food

until you return to the ground, ²² 

for out of it you were taken;

for you are dust, and to dust you will return.” ²³
