4:7 “I withheld rain from you three months before the harvest. ¹ 

I gave rain to one city, but not to another.

One field ²  would get rain, but the field that received no rain dried up.

4:8 People from ³  two or three cities staggered into one city to get ⁴  water,

but remained thirsty. ⁵

Locusts kept ⁷  devouring your orchards, ⁸  vineyards, fig trees, and olive trees.

8:8 Then Noah ²  sent out a dove ³  to see if the waters had receded ⁴  from the surface of the ground. 8:9 The dove could not find a resting place for its feet because water still covered ⁵  the surface of the entire earth, and so it returned to Noah ⁶  in the ark. He stretched out his hand, took the dove, ⁷  and brought it back into the ark. ⁸
