Bible: Acts 9:3-7; 22:6-10; 26:12-18

9:3 As he was going along, approaching 1  Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed 2  around him. 9:4 He 3  fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, 4  why are you persecuting me?” 5  9:5 So he said, “Who are you, Lord?” He replied, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting! 9:6 But stand up 6  and enter the city and you will be told 7  what you must do.” 9:7 (Now the men 8  who were traveling with him stood there speechless, 9  because they heard the voice but saw no one.) 10

22:6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and put it on his son Isaac. Then he took the fire and the knife in his hand, 1  and the two of them walked on together. 22:7 Isaac said to his father Abraham, 2 My father?” “What is it, 3  my son?” he replied. “Here is the fire and the wood,” Isaac said, 4 but where is the lamb for the burnt offering? 22:8 God will provide 5  for himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham replied. The two of them continued on together.

22:9 When they came to the place God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there 6  and arranged the wood on it. Next he tied up 7  his son Isaac and placed him on the altar on top of the wood. 22:10 Then Abraham reached out his hand, took the knife, and prepared to slaughter 8  his son.

26:12 When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, 1  because the Lord blessed him. 2  26:13 The man became wealthy. 3  His influence continued to grow 4  until he became very prominent. 26:14 He had 5  so many sheep 6  and cattle 7  and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous 8  of him. 26:15 So the Philistines took dirt and filled up 9  all the wells that his father’s servants had dug back in the days of his father Abraham.

26:16 Then Abimelech said to Isaac, “Leave us and go elsewhere, 10  for you have become much more powerful 11  than we are.” 26:17 So Isaac left there and settled in the Gerar Valley. 12  26:18 Isaac reopened 13  the wells that had been dug 14  back in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up 15  after Abraham died. Isaac 16  gave these wells 17  the same names his father had given them. 18
