16:37 But Paul said to the police officers, 1  “They had us beaten in public 2  without a proper trial 3  – even though we are Roman citizens 4  – and they threw us 5  in prison. And now they want to send us away 6  secretly? Absolutely not! They 7  themselves must come and escort us out!” 8 

The Sacrifice of Isaac

22:1 Some time after these things God tested 1  Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am!” Abraham 2  replied.

23:3 Then Abraham got up from mourning his dead wife 1  and said to the sons of Heth, 2  23:4 “I am a temporary settler 3  among you. Grant 4  me ownership 5  of a burial site among you so that I may 6  bury my dead.” 7 

23:5 The sons of Heth answered Abraham, 8 

25:10 This was the field Abraham had purchased from the sons of Heth. 1  There Abraham was buried with his wife Sarah. 25:11 After Abraham’s death, God blessed 2  his son Isaac. Isaac lived near Beer Lahai Roi. 3
