Bible: Acts 13:27-39
13:27 For the people who live in Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize 1 him, 2 and they fulfilled the sayings 3 of the prophets that are read every Sabbath by condemning 4 him. 5 13:28 Though 6 they found 7 no basis 8 for a death sentence, 9 they asked Pilate to have him executed. 13:29 When they had accomplished 10 everything that was written 11 about him, they took him down 12 from the cross 13 and placed him 14 in a tomb. 13:30 But God raised 15 him from the dead, 13:31 and 16 for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied 17 him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These 18 are now his witnesses to the people. 13:32 And we proclaim to you the good news about the promise to our ancestors, 19 13:33 that this promise 20 God has fulfilled to us, their children, by raising 21 Jesus, as also it is written in the second psalm, ‘You are my Son; 22 today I have fathered you.’ 23 13:34 But regarding the fact that he has raised Jesus 24 from the dead, never 25 again to be 26 in a state of decay, God 27 has spoken in this way: ‘I will give you 28 the holy and trustworthy promises 29 made to David.’ 30 13:35 Therefore he also says in another psalm, 31 ‘You will not permit your Holy One 32 to experience 33 decay.’ 34 13:36 For David, after he had served 35 God’s purpose in his own generation, died, 36 was buried with his ancestors, 37 and experienced 38 decay, 13:37 but the one 39 whom God raised up did not experience 40 decay. 13:38 Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one 41 forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 13:39 and by this one 42 everyone who believes is justified 43 from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify 44 you. 45
