Bible: Acts 12:18-23
12:18 At daybreak 1 there was great consternation 2 among the soldiers over what had become of Peter. 12:19 When Herod 3 had searched 4 for him and did not find him, he questioned 5 the guards and commanded that they be led away to execution. 6 Then 7 Herod 8 went down from Judea to Caesarea 9 and stayed there.
12:20 Now Herod 10 was having an angry quarrel 11 with the people of Tyre 12 and Sidon. 13 So they joined together 14 and presented themselves before him. And after convincing 15 Blastus, the king’s personal assistant, 16 to help them, 17 they asked for peace, 18 because their country’s food supply was provided by the king’s country. 12:21 On a day determined in advance, Herod 19 put on his royal robes, 20 sat down on the judgment seat, 21 and made a speech 22 to them. 12:22 But the crowd 23 began to shout, 24 “The voice of a god, 25 and not of a man!” 12:23 Immediately an angel of the Lord 26 struck 27 Herod 28 down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died. 29
