5:9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, because ²¹  this ²²  is the testimony of God that ²³  he has testified concerning his Son. 5:10 (The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.) ²⁴  5:11 And this is the testimony: God ²⁵  has given us eternal life, ²⁶  and this life is in his Son. 5:12 The one who has the Son ²⁷  has this ²⁸  eternal ²⁹  life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have this ³⁰  eternal ³¹  life.

5:13 I have written these things ³²  to you who believe ³³  in the name of the Son of God so that ³⁴  you may know that you have eternal life.

5:14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: that ³⁵  whenever ³⁶  we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 5:15 And if we know ³⁷  that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him. 5:16 If ³⁸  anyone sees his fellow Christian ³⁹  committing a sin not resulting in death, ⁴⁰  he should ask, and God ⁴¹  will grant ⁴²  life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death. ⁴³  There is a sin resulting in death. ⁴⁴  I do not say that he should ask about that. 5:17 All unrighteousness ⁴⁵  is sin, but there is sin not resulting in death. ⁴⁶ 

5:18 We know that everyone fathered ⁴⁷  by God does not sin, but God ⁴⁸  protects ⁴⁹  the one he has fathered, and the evil one cannot touch him. 5:19 We know that we are from God, ⁵⁰  and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us insight to know ⁵¹  him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This one ⁵²  is the true God and eternal life. 5:21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols. ⁵³
